Job Summary

WWF-India is embarking on an ambitious journey to improve the health of the Sutlej River basin in the state of Punjab under the programme titled as Living Rivers and Wetlands in the Sutlej Basin. The project aims to support local stakeholders in water resource planning and management. Key focus areas include optimizing water allocation and management strategies ensuring adequate environmental flows to maintain river health promoting efficient water use in agriculture reducing industrial water consumption and minimizing its impact on water resources protecting aquatic biodiversity preserving and restoring wetlands and strengthening multi-stakeholder collaboration for improved natural resource management.


One of the key contributors of this programme would be Water Stewardship pillar.

The pillar conceptualises the conservation of Sutlej basin through

Enabling adoption of cleaner technologies by high footprint sectors (electroplating textile and leather) to reduce their footprint on Sutlej River

A tributary of Sutlej called Sirsa River will also be examined and potential of work for the conservation of this river will be explored. This river flows through close vicinity of Baddi town which is an industrial cluster in Himachal Pradesh and hosts many factories and manufacturing units from various sectors including pharma sector


The proposed work on water stewardship work will be carried out through a multi-stakeholder engagement approach and likely to be taken up with the local government consultants along with local research and technical institutions.

We invite applications for the position of "Senior Project Officer Water Stewardship" from individuals who possess a deep-seated commitment to sustainable water management and environmental conservation. The role requires an individual with proven experience in working on demonstration of cleaner technologies across sectors institutional engagement and sector-specific policies.

Location: Rupnagar Punjab. With frequent travel to Ludhiana Jalandhar Baddi.

Responsibilities

A. Water stewardship

1. Demonstration of sector-specific cleaner technologies pertaining to water use efficiency and pollution abatement

2. Engaging multiple stakeholders including industry associations for mainstreaming and scaling-up adoption

3. Coordination with partners that would include academic institutions policy think tanks NGOs and government departments

4. Constantly increase the visibility of the project activities through strategic partnerships


B. Overall

1. Lead local initiatives around citizen science and community empowerment around urban water aspects

2. Shall support publication of reports/peer review journals

3. Shall agree to frequently travel to project sites

4. Support cross-functional work across Rivers & Wetlands team and inter-divisional works

5. Support to any other task entrusted by the Reporting Manager and Head of Department



Requirements

Masters degree in science (preferably Chemical Mechanical or Leather technology) or Industrial/project management

About 2-3 years of industry experience in sphere of technology implementation and project management

Specific experience in stakeholder engagement Government and industrialists

Excellent written and verbal communication skills Punjabi Hindi and English

Candidates with experience in Project Management will be preferred

Proficiency in computers including Microsoft Office Power BI GIS and mappin




Required Skills:

Graduate/ Post Graduate/ MBA from any recognized University. Excellent English communication and negotiation skills with demonstrated ability to talk and listen to people and build rapport with them. Ability to work under tight deadlines. Highly performance-oriented and able to work in a team. Energy-driven individual who can inspire people and promote WWF-Indias work.
