Department of Corrections is looking for an RN4 Mentor at our Headquarters in Tumwater WA.
The work of this position contributes directly to the vision mission and strategic goals of the Department of Corrections. Striving for excellence in nursing supports the core correctional operations focuses on the development and success of the workforce increases the health and safety of Incarcerated Individuals who are preparing to successfully re-enter the community and improves our practices and performance in Health Services Prisons and Community Corrections.

Duties
Lead in the delivery of professional nursing education and training designed to promote excellence in clinical nursing
- Consult with leadership to identify education and training needs at the facility level.
- Manage and provide clinical education to all licensed nursing staff to include Registered Nurse Licensed Practical Nurse Certified Nursing Assistant and Medical Assistant).
- Work with facility leadership to develop improve and implement training and education at the local level.
Collaborate with Clinical Nurse Educators in the development of education and training for Health Services.
- Contributes to the development of clinical education in accordance with American Nurses Association (ANA) and the Infusion Nurses Society (INS).
- Contributes to the development and standardization of training for Nursing and related disciplines.
Consults and work collaboratively with other clinical disciplines and operational management.
- Development of multi-disciplinary training to promote patient care and effective teamwork.
- Coordinates in the development of facility drill scenarios to include Health Services participation.
- Participates in statewide Continuous Quality Improvement Process (CQIP) committees.
- Participate in Critical Incident Reviews (CIR) facility audits and investigations as assigned.
Coordinate with Diversity & Recruitment and local colleges.
- Provides information and resources to provide education and promote correctional nursing to students.
Other duties as assigned.
- Attend mandatory training.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Initial and continuous unencumbered licensure in the State of Washington as a Registered Nurse.
OR
- An unencumbered Multi-State License from a participating Compact Licensure State and completion of the MLS demographic survey.
AND
- At least five (5) years of recent acute clinical experience working as a Registered Nurse; at least three (3) of which in a successful progressive management level position.
- Certification by the American Heart Associate in Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Extensive written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in computer use.
Preferred/Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing from accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education the Council for Higher Education (CHEA) or a foreign equivalent.
- Five (5) years experience as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Three years experience as a Registered Nurse working in a correctional setting.
- NCCHC Certification.
- Experience as a nursing education/instructor.
- Experience in nursing supervision and leadership.
