About the Role
We are seeking a passionate ACC Whānau Navigator to support Māori clients and their whānau to understand access and engage confidently with ACC services.
The role focuses on building trusted relationships with whānau and community partners supporting clients to navigate services through kanohi ki te kanohi phone and community outreach maintaining accurate records coordinating referrals and follow-ups promoting service uptake upholding tikanga Māori and Te Tiriti principles contributing to reporting and continuous improvement and supporting a safe and healthy working environment.
As an ACC Whānau Navigator you will walk alongside whānau hapū and iwi to:
Help clients understand their ACC cover entitlements and pathways
Support access to treatment rehabilitation and wider community services
Advocate early to resolve issues and reduce barriers
Empower whānau to self-navigate ACC systems over time
Deliver support in ways that reflect Māori values ā tinana ā hinengaro ā wairua ā whānau ā whenua
This is a hands-on people-focused role combining community engagement navigation support administration and reporting.
What Youll Bring
Experience working with Māori communities whānau hapū and iwi
A strong understanding of Kaupapa Māori Tikanga Māori and Te Ao Māori
Confidence navigating health social and community support systems
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills (whanaungatanga)
Strong organisation and administration capability
The ability to explain complex systems clearly and respectfully
Proficiency in te reo Māori or a genuine willingness to upskill
A passion for improving outcomes for Māori and wider communities
Experience with ACC is an advantage but not essential we value transferable skills cultural competence and the right values.
