About the Role

Tū Ora Compass Health is seeking two passionate and culturally responsive Cross-Cultural Health Navigators to join our dedicated team of health professionals. One position will be based in the Wairarapa and the other in the Hutt Valley.

The purpose of this role is to support the health needs of Quota Refugees during their resettlement period. You will work closely with the Clinical Case Manager to ensure new arrivals can access a range of health services promptly and effectively. From the outset you will provide tools guidance and support to help Quota Refugees navigate the New Zealand health system empowering them to manage their own health needs into the future.

What Youll Do

  • Support Quota Refugees to access health services and appointments in a timely manner.
  • Provide education and tools to help individuals and families understand and navigate the NZ health system.
  • Work collaboratively with the Clinical Case Manager and wider health team.
  • Promote and model cultural safety when working with former refugee communities.
  • Contribute to improving health outcomes in alignment with Goal 3 of the NZ Refugee Resettlement Strategy: Health and wellbeing: refugees and their families enjoy healthy safe and independent lives.

What Youll Bring

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about equity and improving health outcomes for refugee communities.
  • Skilled in cross-cultural communication and relationship building.
  • Knowledgeable about health systems and able to explain them in accessible ways.
  • Flexible empathetic and able to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ideally experienced in community health social services or refugee resettlement.
