You will join the Service Management and Support Group which promotes service management best practices and tools across CERN. Working with an integrated service management platform and Service Portal based on ServiceNow you will contribute to the configuration customisation extension and support of tools serving all CERN services. As a member of the ServiceNow developer team you will play an active role in shaping the future of the platform supporting continuous improvement and helping deliver efficient high-quality services across the Organisation.
Your responsibilities
- You contribute to various new developments and platform customisations including improving the end-user experience of searching content on the CERN Service Portal through guided search schemes and AI features offered by the platform.
- You review how the Service Management platform handles synchronisation of location information with other platforms and databases at CERN eliminating the chance for discrepancies.
- You collaborate with the Service Desk and other stakeholders to design and implement a new user interface for supporters across CERN based on the technology proposed by the tool provider.
- You contribute to the operation configuration and support of the platform to ensure first-class availability including rota and end-user support duties smooth application of patches and platform-wide upgrades released by the platform provider for a system handling tickets for over 750 services across CERN.
Your profile
Experience:
- Previous work experience in managing a large scale commercial software platform such as ServiceNow in a customised local environment is an advantage but not a requirement.
- Experience with complex data models database design and data integration (ETL) would be an asset but not required.
Skills:
- Strong programming skills in particular good knowledge of JavaScript. Python is a plus.
- Web application debugging and web services (REST/SOAP) knowledge;
- Experience with front-end technologies (HTML/CSS/jQuery); AngularJS is an advantage.
- Spoken and written English with a commitment to learn French.
Eligibility criteria:
- You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
- By the application deadline you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Computing (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is either a Bachelors or Masters degree.
- You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
- Applicants without University degree are not eligible.
- Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.
