Job Title: Assistant Athletic Director Athletic Performance
Department: Intercollegiate Athletics

Positions Supervised: Athletic Performance Coach; Student Employee Positions
The assistant athletic director for athletic performance is responsible for the coordination and supervision of all aspects of the Athletic Performance department. This position is responsible for the development management and oversight of strength and conditioning programs for both male and female student-athletes participating in the intercollegiate athletic program As a member of the athletics department the assistant athletic director will ensure compliance with all institutional conference and NCAA rules and regulations.
Essential Job Functions and Performance Indicators

Job Responsibilities
- Manages the integration of all elements of the Athletic Performance program ensuring alignment with strategic planning
- Prepares and manages all reports presentations and athletic performance resources
- Establishes and enforces department rules responsibilities and standards
- Designs develops implements and evaluates evidence- and scientific-based strength and conditioning programs
- Teaches student-athletes proper resistance training speed and agility techniques as well as educating them on proper nutrition and recovery strategies
- Reduces the likelihood of injury both in the weight room and during practices and competitions by being knowledgeable of the injuries sustained in the sport and proper prevention methods
- Continually updates personal knowledge of strength speed power and injury prevention training
- Develops and manages department fundraising activities
- Develops departmental strategic plan and annual budget proposals
- Communicates effectively and frequently with coaching staff regarding the health and physical development of the student-athlete which includes timely reporting and response to inquiries and assignments
- Develops a seamless line of communication with the head athletic trainer and teams certified athletic trainer to develop effective and efficient return-to-play protocols
- Records and communicates all student-athlete injuries to the athletic training room
- Provides input on training theories and methodology adding to an expected level of excellence
Leadership and Strategic Thinking
- Communicates directly with athletic administration to ensure adequate strength and conditioning services are provided
- Oversees all aspects of Athletic Performance staff program and facility operations
- Develops time schedules for use of the facility by each sport team academic classes and individual students to minimize risk and maintain a safe working environment
- Manages budgetary expenditures for department
- Develops the Athletic Performance departments core values and mission statement
Employee Management and Development
- Supports the mission of the University and serves as an ambassador of the Q2 culture of service excellence
- Models supports and holds others accountable to the Universitys values
- Recruits interviews recommends welcomes observes and monitors performance of department staff
- Sets clear performance expectations and holds employees accountable
- Conducts annual employee evaluations based on evidence observation and feedback
- Allocates and assigns Athletic Performance personnel to specific athletic teams
- Coordinates monthly athletic performance meetings and continuing education sessions

Required Qualifications Required qualifications to effectively perform the job. An equivalent combination of education training and experience will be considered. (Additional requirements may be designated by position.)
- Masters Degree in exercise science kinesiology or a related field required
- CSCS certification through the NSCA or SCCC certification though the CSCCA required
- Minimum of 5 years working as a strength and conditioning coach with collegiate athletes required
- CPR certification required
- Supervisory experience preferred
