Under general supervision the Innovation Laboratory Technician supports the daily operations of the Innovation Laboratory. This position focuses on the design fabrication and finishing of prosthodontic restorations and appliances through advanced CAD/CAM and 3D printing technologies. The technician collaborates closely with faculty students and clinical teams to ensure timely high-quality production aligned with MUSCs standards for education research and patient care.

Job Description

35% Perform and supervise students during 3D design and digital fabrication of models veneers crowns bridges implant restorations occlusal splints partial and complete dentures among others. Manage 3D printing workflows including nesting slicing curing and post-processing. Manage milling workflows including nesting post-processing staining and glazing.

35% Operate calibrate and maintain digital manufacturing systems including but limited to milling machines (i.e. primemill PM7 etc.) 3D printers 3D scanners ceramic ovens stain and glaze kits (i.e. Ivocolor) and CAD/CAM software (i.e. 3Shape Dental System Exocad Cerec InLab)

10% Collaborate with faculty and students to support digital case design troubleshooting and research activities including prototype fabrication and testing of novel workflows.

10% Manage digital file intake case tracking and data archiving through the Innovation Lab SharePoint and dashboard systems.

10% Maintain inventory of resins zirconia burs and consumables; assist with purchasing and vendor coordination ensure adherence to infection control HIPAA and MUSC laboratory safety policies.

Additional Job Description

Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and one year experience or additional training and certification within the specific work area. Some positions require licensure by the South Carolina Board of Denistry. Some positions require certification in BCLS ACLS and BTLS. (4452 Dental Assistant III A high school diploma and three years of dental assisting experience. Certification in Radiation Safety required for positions responsible for dental x-rays. (Special Hire Rate - $30794); 4453 Dental Assistant IV A high school diploma and four years of dental assisting experience. Certification in Radiation Safety required for positions responsible for dental x-rays. (Special Hire Rate - $32334); 4427 Dental Lab Technician I A high school diploma and two years experience or additional training and certification within the specific work area.; 4428 Dental Lab Technician II A high school diploma and two years experience or additional training and certification within the specific work area and one year of related experience.; 4412 Imaging Associate I; 4425 Dental Hygienist I Licensure as a dental hygienist by the South Carolina State Board of Dentistry.
