Job Summary
Purpose of the position:
To provide accurate interpretation and translation services between Japanese and English for various business activities in the Offshore Development Centre for a Japanese client.
This position reports to the Delivery Manager for the Offshore Development Center for a Japanese client and collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to ensure effective communication and understanding between Japanese and English-speaking stakeholders across projects. The Japanese Interpreter plays a crucial role in facilitating smooth and successful interactions meetings and negotiations within the company.
Key responsibilities & duties
1. Provide accurate interpretation between Japanese and English languages during meetings discussions conferences and other business-related events.
2. Assist in translating written documents such as emails reports and presentations from Japanese to English and vice versa.
3. Conduct research and gather information to ensure accurate understanding and interpretation of technical terms and industry-specific jargon.
4. Act as a cultural liaison helping to bridge the gap between Japanese and English-speaking colleagues by explaining cultural nuances and customs.
5. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while handling sensitive information and discussions during interpretation sessions.
6. Collaborate with other interpreters and translators to ensure consistency and accuracy in language interpretation across different projects and departments.
7. Provide language support during negotiations presentations and business meetings to facilitate effective communication and understanding between Japanese and English-speaking parties.
Academic & trades qualifications
1. Bachelors or Graduates Degree in language. OR
2. JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) L2 certification (Preferred)
Work experience for a Japanese Interpreter
1. Fluent in both Japanese and English languages
2. Strong verbal and written communication skills in both languages
3. Extensive knowledge of Japanese culture customs and business etiquette
4. Proven experience in interpreting and translating between Japanese and English in a professional setting
