Job Summary

Plaintiff Appellate Attorney

A rapidly growing plaintiff-side law firm with a statewide practice is seeking an experienced Plaintiff Appellate Attorney to join its legal team. The firm handles a broad range of complex matters including auto accidents premises liability medical malpractice wrongful death nursing home abuse and first-party home and business property damage cases throughout Florida.

This role is ideal for an attorney with a strong background in appellate advocacy who is passionate about plaintiff representation and legal strategy. The Appellate Attorney will manage appeals from trial court through appellate review including drafting briefs presenting oral arguments and advising trial attorneys on appellate and legal strategy. The role also includes providing hands-on trial support during active litigation.

Each Appellate Attorney typically manages approximately 10 20 active appeals and works closely with a dedicated paralegal allowing for focused high-quality appellate work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle all aspects of appellate cases including brief writing oral arguments and motions practice
  • Provide on-site legal trial support to attorneys during active trials
  • Meet with attorneys and review drafts of substantive legal filings including summary judgment and post-judgment motions
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analyze complex legal issues
  • Collaborate with trial attorneys to develop litigation and appellate strategies
  • Draft clear persuasive and well-reasoned legal briefs and memoranda
  • Present oral arguments before state and federal appellate courts
  • Stay current on legal developments and changes in appellate law
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior attorneys and legal staff

Requirements & Skills:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
  • Active membership in good standing with the Florida Bar
  • Minimum of 5 years of appellate litigation experience preferably on the plaintiffs side
  • Strong legal research writing and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively
  • Excellent oral advocacy skills with experience arguing before appellate courts
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Commitment to ethical practice and client advocacy
