Job Summary

Our multinational client a leading power generation company focused on developing acquiring financing constructing and owning energy projects requires a skilled Field Operator to join their team. Reporting to the Shift Charge Engineer you will be responsible for physically inspecting equipment operating auxiliary plant systems performing minor maintenance and ensuring the safe and efficient functioning of all auxiliary operations. You will also execute Tagout/Lockout procedures handle chemical feeds and fuel operate electrical switch gear and maintain accurate operational logs while supporting both the Shift Charge Engineer and Control Room Operator.



Responsibilities

  • Conduct physical inspections of equipment and systems to detect unusual vibrations noise temperature fluctuations or other indicators of potential issues.
  • Charge chemical feed tanks and monitor water chemistry in strict accordance with established procedures and prescribed limits.
  • Manage and handle fuel to ensure uninterrupted plant operations as required.
  • Assist the SCE to handle liquid fuel storage and treatment to meet plant requirements including operating the FOTP using appropriate Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Operate plant auxiliary equipment such as the heating and ventilating systems sump pumps service pumps and other similar equipment as required.
  • Execute tasks as directed by the Control Room Operator and Shift Charge Engineer following all Tagout/Lockout procedures.
  • Operate electrical switch gear across all voltage levels safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain detailed logs of key operational activities and events.
  • Inspect clean lubricate and perform minor maintenance on all plant equipment and structural components.
  • Report immediately to the Shift Charge Engineer or his delegate in the event an accident occurs involving injury to personnel and in the event an equipment failure occurs which could result in loss of plant or equipment availability.
  • Work in coordination with Safety and Environmental Units to comply with environmental & safety policies and objectives.
  • Portray the position of Field Operator in a positive and professional manner.
  • Ensure the work area is clean safe and well-organised at all times.
  • Complete all assigned tasks efficiently to meet operational deadlines and targets.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities assigned by your supervisor to support the overall operations effectively.



Requirements


  • Must have at least an HND or Bachelors degree in Electrical Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Must have at least one (1) year of experience as a Field Operator in a Thermal Plant.
  • Experience in industrial or marine utility power generation is preferred.
  • Ability to monitor and control auxiliary equipment of gas turbines.
  • Possess thorough knowledge and understanding of Power Plant operations and equipment.
  • Experience with turbine operations including off-line water wash and fuel/water treatments.
  • Ability to isolate equipment and conduct hot patch gas inspections.
  • Ability to champion safety in all aspects of work.
  • Possess strong communication (written & verbal) collaborative and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in using digital tools and applications such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel and PowerPoint).





Required Skills:

Must have at least a Bachelors degree in Electrical Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Must have at least two (2) years experience as a Field Operator in a Thermal Plant or possess an HND with 78 years experience. Proven completion of position-specific training and qualifications is mandatory. Experience in industrial or marine utility power generation is preferred. Ability to monitor and control auxiliary equipment of Gas turbines. Ability to read and understand process diagrams simple electrical diagrams and operating instructions. Ability to champion safety in all aspects of work. Possess strong communication (written & verbal) collaborative and problem-solving skills Possess thorough knowledge and understanding of Power Plant operations and equipment. Proficient in using digital tools and applications. Must be able to work shifts including nights weekends and as needed for plant operations.
