A vacancy has arisen for a Squadron Leader (Any) to serve as the SO2 ISTAR Reserves (Policy) within the 1 Gp Project Joint Venture (JV) hereafter SO2 ISTAR Res (Pol). The post is based at RAF Waddington with remote / hybrid working approved on Part Time Volunteer Reserve (PTVR) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS) with an initial proposed start date of 02 February 2026 (or earlier dependant on candidate circumstances).
The SO2 Res Pol JV will work within a dynamic team tasked with improving the support given by the Reserves to the RAF Front Line. The incumbent will work directly for Gp Capt 1 Gp Reserves and in parallel to the already-established ISTAR JV team and is expected to work across both ISTAR and Combat Air functions. Work-strands will include the identification of areas where the Regular Service requires requests or could be augmented by RAF Reserve support and influencing policy to enable Reserve assets to best meet that requirement. Remote / hybrid working is encouraged for this position noting that successful candidates will be required to travel to RAF Waddington or other RAF Stations as appropriate on a number of occasions throughout the year.
SO2 Res Pol JV will work directly for Gp Capt 1 Gp Reserves liaising with the wider JV team and be responsible for:
Working on own initiative to identify opportunities to improve RAF Reserve support to the front line
Liaison with the Reserves Directorate to develop and enhance existing policies
Assisting with the co-ordination of reserve support linking into Res HQs across the full range of Professions
Input into production of a CONEMP for future PTVR utilisation
Acting as a JV Team PoC for queries relating to Reservist employment TCoS and other administrative matters relating to Reserves
Provision of education and guidance on types of Reserves and Reserve employment
Promotion of coordination with RAuxAF Sqns
Staff tasks as directed by Gp Capt 1Gp Reserves
