Viva Energy Australia have an exciting opportunity for a Legal Counsel to join our team and provide expert legal advice and support across a diverse range of transactions and strategic initiatives. This role will primarily focus on support for our Property Team where youll partner with stakeholders to navigate complex legal matters and enable business growth.
Youll play a critical role in shaping commercial outcomes mitigating risk and delivering practical solutions that align with our long-term objectives.
Responsibilities & Requirements
Property:
- Provide legal advice on a wide range of property matters with a particular focus on commercial property leasing.
- Draft and review a variety of related commercial agreements including MOUs and NDAs.
- Advise on disputes arising in the property context.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure legal support aligns with business objectives and mitigates potential risks.
General Legal Support:
- Provide strategic legal advice to senior management and other departments within the organisation.
- Stay updated on relevant legal developments and support compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Assist in the development and implementation of legal policies and procedures.
- Manage relationships with external legal counsel and other third-party advisors.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent; admission to practice law in Australia.
- Current Australian Practising Certificate.
- Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in property law gained within private practice or in-house.
- Exposure to competition/consumer law.
- Strong analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- High level of integrity professionalism and attention to detail.
