Special Counsel
About the Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly capable experienced confident and motivated Lawyer with a minimum of 8 10 years post-qualification experience to join an established and highly regarded wills estate planning and estate administration practice.
In this senior role you will take ownership of complex estate planning and estate administration matters while leading a team of paralegals and a junior solicitor. You will work closely with Partners and be supported by a broader team that includes property commercial charity litigation and family law practitioners.
The role offers significant autonomy direct client engagement and the opportunity to contribute strategically to the growth of the practice. While a portable practice is not essential it would be supported if you were to bring one.
This position provides a genuine pathway to partnership for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities and Measures of Success:
Your success in this role will be measured by your ability to:
- Think strategically and solve complex legal and commercial problems
- Build strong trusted client relationships through clear accurate practical and timely advice
- Advise on all aspects of estate planning and estate administration including:
- Wills and testamentary trusts
- Powers of Attorney and Enduring Guardianships
- Probate applications and letters of administration
- Trust tax law and Family Provision Act implications
- Manage a diverse and complex caseload while consistently delivering high-quality legal services
- Lead mentor and support junior team members
What We Are Looking For:
- 8 10 years post-qualification experience in estate planning wills and estate administration ideally in private practice
- Comprehensive knowledge of estate planning and estate administration law commensurate with experience
- Strong understanding of trust law tax law and estate-related legislation
- Excellent drafting negotiation and client management skills
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
- Strong research and problem-solving skills
- Ability to use core legal platforms and technology effectively
- Proven ability to prioritise work and manage competing deadlines
- A collaborative approach with demonstrated business development capability
