Job Summary

The Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY) is the largest Fire Department in the United States and universally is recognized as the worlds busiest and most highly skilled emergency response agency. The Departments main goal is to provide fire protection emergency medical care and other critical public safety services to residents and visitors in the five boroughs. FDNY members are sworn to serve and protect life and property and the Department works to continually educate the public in fire life safety and disaster preparedness along with enforcing public safety codes. Since its inception in 1865 FDNY has helped lead efforts to make New York the safest big city in the nation. This accomplishment requires a steadfast and daily commitment to maintaining the Departments core values.

The FDNY comprised of approximately 17000 employees in uniformed emergency medical services and civilian titles is seeking an experienced Human Resources professional with strong knowledge of City and civil service leave policies. The position is for a full-time permanent Clerical Aide L4 to serve as the HR Leave Coordinator within the Bureau of Human Resources. The Leave Coordinator will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

-Reviewing and processing leave requests including FMLA Paid Family Leave (PFL) Paid Parental Leave (PPL) Personal Leave and Child Care Leave.
-Ensuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) Workers Compensation and other applicable laws rules and regulations.
-Verifying leave eligibility based on City policies employees start dates and leave entitlements.
-Distributing required forms and sending leave-related correspondence.
-Monitoring and processing Section 71/73 actions.
-Preparing metrics and reports related to leave requests and actions.
-Performing other related human resources functions as assigned.

Qualifications :

Qualification Requirements
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a States department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience.
Skills Requirement
Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.
