Your Role
Mallee District Aboriginal Services (MDAS) is one of Victorias largest Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations.
At MDAS were passionate about empowering our communities through culturally safe holistic and family centred support. As a Caseworker in our Intensive & Integrated Family Services team youll play a vital role in strengthening families promoting child safety and supporting positive long term outcomes.
The Caseworker Intensive & Integrated Family Services provides case management support to vulnerable Aboriginal children young people and their families. This includes undertaking assessments of the children young people and their family using the Best Interest Case Practice framework.
A key responsibility is also developing child and family action plans with the family then implementing and reviewing progress towards achieving the agreed plans.
The role requires strong understanding of the complex issues affecting families including:
- Drug and alcohol misuse
- Family violence
- Mental health challenges
- Homelessness or risk of homelessness
- Cycles of disadvantage and poverty resulting in chronic neglect and cumulative harm.
This is a permanent full time position based at our Mildura office location.
Key Selection Criteria
Demonstrated experience and understanding of child development risk assessment and family centred practices.
Experience in the case management of complex children youth and families andknowledge of the Residential Care Out of Home Care system and Child Protection statutory requirements.
Demonstrated ability to advocate for client needs influencing
decisions in clients best interests and understanding of therapeutic intervention underpinned by trauma attachment theory and resilience.
- Demonstrated experience in preparation of written reports including case notes and reports with statistical data collected from service delivery reporting.
Ability to take action to provide services that are inclusive of Aboriginal people and engage in learning about other cultures to better establish relationships and improve services.
Qualification/s:
Relevant qualification at Certificate IV or higher with relevant experience or experience attained through previous appointments.
Other Screening Requirements:
Valid Drivers License that allows you to drive in Australia.
Victorian Employee Working with Children Check card.
National Police Check.
