Job Description: -

Hale Creek Correctional Facility is a medium security prison for men in need of RNs to assist with staffing on a temporary basis (up to 40 hours per week).
These individuals must be motivated to provide care to an incarcerated male population be self-starters and able to operate semi-independently (physician on-call).
A minimum of one year of acute care RN experience (Medical/Surgical ER ICU) an annual TB test and CPR certification is required.
Compliance with all security directives is a must and the candidates must be dependable.
Previous experience/employment working in NYS DOCCS is a plus.

The Nurses duties will include:

Assessing inmate and staff medical complaints
Taking off (noting) MD orders and prescriptions entering lab work and creating requisitions
Administering medications
End of shift narcotics sharps and tool counts
Emergency sick call and emergency medical responses utilize AED
Proficient with computers Microsoft programs and able to learn a DOS based program
Vaccinations
Wound care
Diabetic care
Inmate health teaching and evaluation
