Program Overview
Safe Passages is a nonprofit organization committed to strengthening the well-being academic success and economic self-sufficiency of children youth and families. AmeriCorps VISTA members build the long-term capacity of Safe Passages and its partner sites by developing systems tools and partnerships that expand access to critical services across Oakland and the Bay Area.
Position Summary
Safe Passages VISTA members serve in various departments including Food Security Health & Wellness Program Development and Community Engagement to improve program effectiveness and organization sustainability. Members work on projects such as developing internal systems supporting with data collection and evaluation strengthening outreach and communications expanding volunteer engagement and research best practices to inform program design. Members serve as part of a team and collaborate with staff and community partners to increase the organizations ability to meet community needs.
Term of Service
Length: VISTA requires a full-time 12-month commitment
Location: Oakland CA
Schedule: Typically Monday Friday 9am 5pm; occasional night and weekend events
Benefits
Living allowance of $1320 every two weeks (before taxes and deductions)
Choice of Education Award or End-of-Service Stipend
