Position Details:

The Asset Management Compliance team is seeking an intern for a summer term position from May to August 2026. Students enrolled in an undergraduate program who will be returning to school in 2026 in a related field (BCom BA BSc etc.) are eligible to apply.

Located in our Toronto office the intern will gain exposure to governance and operational processes across multiple Compliance portfolios including Investments Trading and Personal Conduct Sales Practices and Institutional Accounts.

The intern will assist with day-to-day activities and projects that support regulatory compliance and operational excellence. The intern will work closely with the team on tasks such as:

Investment Monitoring

  • Assist with weekly monitoring of illiquid assets.
  • Help organize and maintain investment rule groups.
  • Support governance-related projects and documentation.

Derivatives Oversight

  • Assist in reconciling derivatives against approved lists.
  • Help maintain and suggest improvements to the derivatives database.

Shareholder Disclosure

  • Support reconciliation and testing activities for newly automated processes.
  • Conduct bi-weekly takeover panel reviews.
  • Review disclosure rules for consistency and accuracy.

Personal Trade Oversight

  • Prepare reconciliation files and review flagged trades.
  • Assist with Access Person onboarding processes.
  • Support front-running monitoring.

Sales Practices

  • Review requests for promotional activities and items.
  • Assist in reviewing and approving conference requests.

Institutional Accounts

  • Organize client documentation such as Investment Policy Statements.

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in a related field and returning to school in 2026
  • Interest in compliance finance or asset management
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new tools and systems
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in completing tasks
  • Ability to research and analyze information and provide clear summaries or insights
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks with varying timelines
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook) and familiarity with SharePoint

The expected annual base salary range (prorated for the term) for this role is $49000 - $51000 which is determined based on year of study IGM program geographic location and candidates skills knowledge and addition to base salary this role is eligible for paid time off.
