Job Summary

Senior Manager / Manager (Investment Operations and Compliance) in the Investment Office(Ref.:533829)

We are seeking an experienced investment operations professional to join the Investment Office as an investment operations specialist. The appointee will support the operational integrity governance and effectiveness of the Universitys endowment portfolio across both public and private markets with a particular focus on investment operations operational due diligence and compliance monitoring.

The Role

The appointee will be responsible for the operational aspects of the endowments investment program including trade support and instruction cash and liquidity management operational due diligence on external managers compliance and guideline monitoring performance and risk reporting and systems and data implementation. The position is critical in ensuring that the endowments investment activities are executed efficiently accurately and in accordance with applicable policies regulations and best practices.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Trade support and cash flow management

  • Coordinate and process trade instructions across public and private market investments in a timely and accurate manner;
  • Manage capital calls distributions and other cash flow processes for private investments including maintenance of commitment and exposure schedules;
  • Oversee investment documentation such as subscription agreements side letters transfer documents and redemption requests ensuring proper execution filing and tracking; and
  • Monitor cash balances and liquidity at custodian and bank accounts to support portfolio rebalancing capital calls and operating requirements.

2. Operational due diligence compliance and legal support

  • Lead or support operational due diligence on existing and prospective external managers including assessment of their middle and backoffice processes valuation policies cash controls serviceprovider framework and business continuity arrangements;
  • Identify and mitigate operational risks across external manager relationships and investment structures ensuring alignment with the Universitys policies and risk management framework;
  • Support the development and maintenance of ODD documentation questionnaires and ongoing monitoring processes and prepare concise ODD summaries for internal stakeholders;
  • Ensure adherence to internal investment operational and compliance policies relevant regulatory requirements and legal guidelines; and
  • Collaborate with legal finance and external counsel to manage documentation and contract reviews including investment management agreements limited partnership agreements and side letters.

3. Performance measurement reporting and data management

  • Review and deliver timely accurate performance and attribution reports to stakeholders including portfolio analytics benchmarking risk and liquidity metrics;
  • Support the preparation of materials for the Investment Committee and other governance bodies ensuring data consistency and clarity;
  • Implement maintain and enhance portfolio management and performance systems and related data processes to support accurate and efficient reporting; and
  • Establish and maintain robust data quality controls reconciliations and workflow automation to ensure integrity of positions valuations cash flows and benchmark data.

4. Collaboration and process improvement

  • Work closely with the investment team Finance Office custodians administrators and external managers to streamline operational processes and resolve issues promptly;
  • Identify design and implement opportunities for process improvement automation and control enhancement across investment operations ODD and reporting workflows; and
  • Contribute to projects related to new system implementation data architecture and the enhancement of the investment operating model.

Qualifications and qualities

  • Bachelors degree in finance accounting economics or a related discipline;
  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g. CPA or equivalent) is required; an advanced degree and/or professional designation such as CFA is preferred;
  • 5 - 8 years of relevant experience in investment operations fund operations investment accounting or a related role preferably within an endowment foundation pension fund family office or asset management firm with exposure to both public and private markets;
  • Strong knowledge of investment structures and operational workflows including capital calls and distributions commitment tracking NAV and capital account mechanics and custody/settlement processes;
  • Experience conducting or supporting operational due diligence on external managers or service providers with the ability to assess and challenge control environments and operational risk;
  • Expertise in portfolio management systems performance and risk reporting tools and data management processes;
  • Familiarity with compliance and legal considerations in institutional investment settings and knowledge of financial and investment reporting standards (e.g. GIPS) is preferred;
  • Excellent analytical organisational and problemsolving skills with high attention to detail and a strong control mindset;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with internal stakeholders external managers and service providers; and
  • Proven track record of managing multiple priorities in a fastpaced deadlinedriven environment and taking ownership of tasks from inception to completion.

Those with less experience may be considered for appointment as Manager (Investment Operations and Compliance).

What We Offer

The appointment will be made on a fixedterm fulltime contract for 2 years to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme totalling up to 15% of basic salary for Senior Manager and 10% of basic salary for Manager.
