We are seeking a Senior Rail Systems Engineer who thrives on solving complex challenges and leading integrated rail solutions from concept through to commissioning. This is an excellent opportunity to join our Brisbane Rail team and simplify the intricacies of signalling and rail systems enabling our clients and interdisciplinary colleagues to deliver integrated solutions across a variety of projects.

Working with an energetic and high performing team this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

• Working on the development and delivery of complex multidisciplinary rail projects including signalling telecommunications and control systems.
• Providing expert technical and design input guiding engineering and support teams to deliver innovative solutions in the Rail Systems discipline for both greenfield and brownfield environments.
• Acting as project manager for a wide range of commissions delivering project elements on time within budget and to the highest quality standards.
• Preparing and reviewing concept signalling designs and system specifications ensuring seamless integration and compliance with industry standards.
• Championing systems integration verification and validation and safety assurance across signalling TMS ETCS and control systems.
• Collaborating with clients stakeholders and cross-functional teams to deliver successful project outcomes and foster strong relationships.
• Contributing or facilitating Safety-in-Design workshops and risk reviews supporting commissioning and operational readiness.
• Mentoring junior engineers and actively contributing to the growth of GHDs Rail Consultancy locally and nationally.
• Supporting the Manager/Team Leader in expanding GHDs Rail Consultancy leveraging your expertise to drive business development and innovation.

What you will bring to the team

• Electrical Engineering degree or recognised equivalent tertiary qualification.
• 10 years postgraduate experience.
• Registered Professional Engineer (RPEQ) (or working towards).
• Ideally you will possess a wide knowledge of rail systems the rail industry and specific experience in conventional and communications-based signalling technologies.
• You will be able to demonstrate experience in project development design construction and maintenance.
• Ability to translate operators requirements into functional specifications.
• A passion for design documentation assessment and analysis of technical data.
• Well-developed communication skills both oral and written (including report writing).
• A strong background in building nurturing and maintaining ongoing client relationships.
