Position Summary
The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) provides direct behavioral and instructional support to students under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or other qualified professional. The RBT assists in implementing individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and skill-acquisition programs that help students succeed academically socially and behaviorally within the school setting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Implement individualized behavior intervention plans and instructional programs as designed by the supervising BCBA.
- Collect record and summarize behavioral and skill data accurately and consistently.
- Support students in developing communication social self-management and adaptive skills across school environments (classroom cafeteria playground etc.).
- Use Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles to encourage positive behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors.
- Collaborate with teachers related service providers and support staff to promote consistency and success in student programs.
- Participate in team meetings professional development and supervision sessions as required.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records and follow district state and federal guidelines.
- Adhere to the ethical and professional standards outlined by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
Preferred:
- Experience working in educational settings with students who have developmental behavioral or emotional needs.
- Associates or bachelors degree in education psychology applied behavior analysis or a related field.
Supervision and Reporting
- Works under the direct supervision of a BCBA or qualified designee.
- Receives general direction from school administrators and/or special education supervisors.
Work Year and Contract
- Contract: School-year position (follows the districts academic calendar).
- Work Schedule: e.g. MondayFriday during student instructional hours.
- Employment Type: Classified/Non-Exempt (as designated by district policy).
Salary and Benefits
- Salary: Determined upon hire and based on education certification and experience in accordance with district guidelines.
