Sr Electrical Engineer About the Job:

A leading multidisciplinary design and engineering firm is seeking a highly experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our mission-critical this role you will lead the design and development of electrical systems for large complex and technically demanding projects-driving work from early schematics all the way through construction administration. Typical Project Responsibilities:

  • Lead building system concepts and documentation from schematics through construction administration.
  • Coordinate regularly with your Supervisor throughout project development.
  • Apply expertise across key electrical design sectors including:
  1. Power distribution
  2. Lighting and controls
  3. Fire alarm
  4. Specification writing and editing
  5. Energy conservation sustainability and technical reporting
  • Serve as Project Discipline Team Leader for large and complex projects when assigned.
  • Oversee and direct project team members within your discipline; monitor and manage discipline-specific project budgets.
  • Prepare and track project status reports.
  • Coordinate with the Electrical Engineering Discipline Leader to develop man-hour estimates.
  • Conduct and document code research as needed for each project.
  • Participate in cost-model development and design accordingly.
  • Maintain an Electrical Basis of Design Journal throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct material and product research to support project development.
  • Attend and participate in client and project meetings.
  • Interface with other Project Discipline Team Leaders to ensure alignment across disciplines.
  • Respond to client questions and requests within 24 hours.
  • Perform document interpretation and submittal reviews during bidding and construction administration.
  • Mentor staff to ensure high-quality deliverables and support team growth.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Non Project Responsibilities:

  • Mentor support engineers and guide them toward increasing responsibility.
  • Provide regular feedback to the Electrical Engineering Discipline Leader regarding staff performance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve quality and services and participate in implementing solutions.
  • Take part in internal training programs.
  • Engage in relevant professional organizations and activities.
  • Contribute ideas insights and lessons learned related to field experience and new technologies.
  • Recognize and celebrate staff members who demonstrate exceptional work or initiative.

Skills Knowledge & Education Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree required; professional licensure required.
  • LEED Accreditation preferred.
  • Revit experience required.
  • Minimum six years of A/E industry experience preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of design across all project phases-from schematics to close-out.
  • Strong understanding of interdisciplinary coordination requirements.
  • Proficiency in short-circuit and selective coordination calculations (EDSA SKM or other analytical modeling tools preferred).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational capabilities.
  • Ability to motivate mentor and delegate effectively within a team.
  • Proficiency in CAD/BIM technologies.
  • Detail-oriented self-motivated enthusiastic and adaptable.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively under deadline-driven conditions.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel to project sites for meetings and observations.
  • Ability to access existing and new sites for investigation and evaluation.
  • Ability to use communication and documentation tools effectively.
  • Visual acuity to perform all job responsibilities.
