Job Summary
The Senior Design Engineer will work as part of a team of up to 10 Design Engineers responsible for designing mechanical products and systems from concept through production. This role focuses on heavy industrial manufacturing environments and requires strong technical leadership hands-on design experience and the ability to deliver cost-effective high-quality products that meet customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities / Duties
Plan and execute engineering projects based on customer requirements market demand and competitive analysis
Design and evaluate mechanical systems using principles of mechanics hydraulics and materials
Develop feasibility studies test methods and validation processes for new and existing products
Support product development by researching manufacturing and assembly methods and materials
Develop and improve manufacturing processes with a focus on cost reduction and process optimization
Design and modify equipment used in fabrication assembly and installation of components
Ensure product and system quality through testing and validation of finished products
Prepare engineering and product reports by collecting and analyzing technical data
Provide technical guidance and engineering support to internal teams
Maintain compliance with applicable regulations and industry standards
Support product data management systems and documentation
Stay current with industry trends tools and best practices
Required Skills and amp; Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering (required)
Senior-level engineer with 5 years of design engineering experience
Heavy industrial manufacturing background required
Heavy haul trailer or trailer manufacturing experience is a strong plus
Heavy equipment engineering experience is a plus
Strong proficiency in design software and advanced Excel skills
Solid understanding of cost accounting and manufacturing economics
Ability to identify automation and process improvement opportunities
Strong written verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Innovative mindset with an appreciation for lean manufacturing principles
Ability to quickly learn new tools systems and technologies
