Preventing alcohol related harm in our communities is a key priority of New Zealand Police in partnership with communities businesses and other public sector agencies.

Auckland Police is offering an opportunity for a motivated individual passionate about preventing alcohol related harm to join our Alcohol Harm Prevention Unit in a Support Officer role.

In the Support Officer role you will contribute to Alcohol Harm Prevention by enquiring into and reporting on applications for certificates and licenses associated to the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012. You will also ensure accurate recording of alcohol related information into Police computer systems. You will work closely with partner agencies and contribute to enabling and supporting of Constabulary staff involved in Alcohol Harm Prevention.

This is a permanent full- time position based in Auckland City District however there is a requirement to process applications for all three Tamaki Makaurau Policing Districts. It is primarily a business hours role.

Training will be provided to the successful applicants.

  • Complete thorough and in-depth enquiries.
  • Write clear succinct and accurate reports.
  • Be capable of making sound decisions under pressure.
  • Manage competing demands and at times high workload.
  • Develop and maintain a wide range of positive relationships (internal and external).

Whilst we are looking for skills knowledge and experience relevant to the role we also place high importance on your state of mind the alignment of your values with ours your ability to contribute to and build high performing teams and the way that you lead yourself or others.

  • Used Microsoft Office (Word PowerPoint Excel) to develop a high standard of reports/presentations and computer literacy.
  • Proficiency in data entry and report writing.
  • Ability to work in a diverse team environment.

  • Current CPK at the rank of the vacancy you are applying for (Constabulary only).
  • For both Constabulary & Police Employees:
    • Agree to enrol in a leadership programme at the advertised level at a future date or
    • Have qualified under CEP or a previous Career Progression Framework at the level you are applying for.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 is beneficial but not compulsory.
  • An interest in legislation and case law is useful.
  • Hold permanent residency or be a New Zealand citizen.
  • Have confidence in the ability for you and your immediate family to pass comprehensive security and background checks.
  • Excellent verbal and written English skills.

Utu ā-tau Salary

This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence from $63526.00 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
