The Role
The Junction Works Supported Independent Living homes provide supported accommodation in a community setting to people with a disability. The service provides a range of supports that are flexible and responsive to the changing needs of our residents. Our aim is to enable our residents to live a quality life in their community a life that is as independent as possible and that is meaningful to the person.
These roles reporting to the Manager Supported Independent Living are pivotal to the continued growth and development of our residents. You will provide a positive strengths based and person centred leadership to a team of support workers to enable individuals with disabilities to reach their own potential and become integrated into their community.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and support to the team to assist participants in the development of skills that lead to employment vocational education opportunities as well as supporting skill building and development that promote social inclusion.
- Build strong and meaninful relationships with all stakeholders such as the participants clinical team families carers and managers.
- Attend training sessions to further develop leadership skills.
- Working closely with the Manager Disability Support Services to lead the team to produce the highest quality of service provision.
- Particiapate in training and development and support your team in their professional development.
Please Note:These roles work on a 7 day roster that will include weekend evening and overnight shifts.
About You
You will thrive in this role with the following attributes:
- Qualification in disability or related field (desirable)
- Minimum 2 years experience supporting people in a related sector including with a disability mental illness community services aged care residential or rehabilitation environment.
- Ability to work with people with a disability including those needing support around challenging behaviours and personal care.
- A clear understanding of professional boundaries and restrictive practices.
- Proven ability to prioritise tasks meet deadlines and work efficiently under minimal supervision and in high-pressure situations.
- Proven communication skills both verbal and written including an ability to communicate with participants and families from a range of cultural backgrounds.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within a diverse team and work independently.
- Take ownership of all recording and reporting requirements.
Your application for this position will require you to have:
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain prior to employment)
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module certificate (or willingness to obtain prior to employment)
- Current NSW Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain prior to employment)
- Current NSW Drivers Licence
- Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain prior to employment)
- National Police Check (completed within the last 3 months)
