Job Summary and Responsibilities
A CommonSpirit Health Nurse Resident is a new graduate direct clinical care registered nurse (RN) who continues to develop nursing knowledge skills abilities and behaviors introduced in formal education as they transition into practice. They are expected to demonstrate the appropriate competency in both core and functional areas listed below.
Progression is expected in the areas of leading through mission vision and values patient/customer focus taking ownership health care knowledge teamwork clinical performance improvement service excellence decision making and critical thinking and patient safety.
This position is represented by California Nurses Association (CNA) and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a minimum of an Associates Degree in Nursing
- 0-12 months of professional nursing (RN) experience
- Active License as a Registered Nurse (RN) in California
- BLS certification - American Heart Association
- ACLS Certification- American Heart Association
- Additional certifications may be required based on population(s) served and services provided
Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in Nursing
Required Minimum Knowledge Skills Abilities and Training
- Ability to:
- Deliver excellence in patient care through assessing formulating nursing diagnoses and establishing goals planning and implementing intervention and evaluating patient care outcomes.
- Read analyze and interpret hospital policies and procedures professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations.
- Write reports and procedures and document in the medical record.
- Effectively present information and respond to questions from co-workers managers patients physicians family members and the general public.
- Calculate figures and amounts such as weights dosages flow rates proportions percentages and volume.
- Apply concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions to practical situations.
- Define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Critically think and problem solve.
- Read wrote and speak English.
- Must meet the requirements of the year long program including preparation work and class attendance
- Must remain in a full-time position for the entirety of the year long program
- Must be able to work and train on either night or day shifts including holidays
- Must agree to terms and conditions of the program
