Job Summary

The University of Iowa Health Care department of Safety and Security is seeking a Senior Compliance Coordinator. Their responsibility is to provide leadership for organizational programming of substantial complexity and impact with a variety of key partners throughout UI Health Care i.e. Administration Nursing Management UI Police Human Resources UI Health Care-Safety and Security and General Counsel.

Duties to include:

  • Serves as a consultative resource to faculty and staff- providing expert knowledge and organizational consultation services in matters related to violence and loss prevention

  • Aids in facilitating conflict resolution and improvement in workgroup functioning based on systematic assessment and evaluation

  • Provides consultative assessment and service referral for high risk and extremely stressful highly emotional clients as assigned

  • Conducts investigations involving loss prevention and other matters as necessary

  • Designs general program brochures courses or other technical educational materials as required

  • Conducts periodic program evaluation surveys and reviews

  • Conducts outreach and training for management supervisors faculty and staff about violence prevention loss prevention diffusing difficult situations anger management and roles and responsibilities defined in the University of Iowa workplace violence policies and procedures as assigned

  • Conducts Risk Assessments and audits UI Health Care/Offsite locations

  • Assisting in filing reports of criminal events

  • Review all reports that have been identified as criminal

  • Respond to disruptive patient family and visitors

  • Working as a liaison with UIPD

  • Assisting with daily operations of the department as needed

  • Develop and conduct training

  • Demonstrate the WE CARE values

  • Prepare reports for administrative staff

  • Assist with committees and workgroups

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in a relevant behavioral health field or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 2-5 years of experience in program development in behavioral health or Threat Assessment/Violence Prevention and conducting investigations pertaining to loss prevention

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary including the ability to build coalitions among multiple stakeholders

  • Public speaking or training including the proficient use of multimedia systems is required

  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Office products

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certified Threat Manager and/or training and experience in violence prevention (e.g. workplace or school violence prevention programs)

  • Experience in consultation assessment intervention planning to organizational leaders

  • Knowledge of UI policy and procedures
