Job Description Summary
Latin America Senior Statutory Manager will coordinate statutory financial filings including statutory audits with internal and external partners and assure local compliance for the entities in scope within Electrification segment. This individual will expand responsibilities across the entities and countries to ensure statutory compliance and support to integrate and develop common policies standard procedures operational internal controls to ensure the business meets its statutory reporting obligations and completes all associated reconciliations.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation and timely submission of statutory financial statements for 10 entities spread across 8 countries ensuring full compliance with local accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Own and manage the full statutory audit lifecycle from planning and coordination to resolution of audit findings acting as the primary point of contact and escalation with internal and external auditors.
- Build strong partnerships and maintain effective communication with internal cross-functional stakeholders (Regional business line Tax Legal Treasury Operations) and external auditors to ensure smooth audits and alignment on financial reporting matters.
- Lead the implementation of a consistent and standardized statutory deliverable model including policies procedures and delivery practices across the sub-region.
- Oversee and ensure seamless integration of new business landscape into the existing framework.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with key statutory and tax KPIs and proactively identify and address gaps or risks in statutory delivery and regulatory reporting.
- Lead sub-regional statutory teams comprising of 12 team members spread across multiple countries and having diverse cultures fostering a culture of accountability high performance and continuous improvement and drive people-related initiatives including talent acquisition onboarding communication training performance management and career development.
- Apply professional judgment and technical expertise to resolve moderately to highly complex issues in statutory reporting and tax processes and provide innovative solutions to improve compliance controls and operational efficiency.
- Drive and lead lean and continuous improvement projects to optimize statutory reporting processes reduce cycle time and improve reporting quality and support automation and standardization initiatives within the controllership function.
- Manage a multicultural team facilitating clear and effective communication across different cultural backgrounds addressing potential language barriers and promoting active listening and understanding.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting from an accredited university or college
- Brazilian Certified Public Accountant
- Minimum 25 years overall experience in Controllership/Audit minimum 3 years experience in Grid business (Controllership)
- Strong technical knowledge on accounting principles (IFRS/GAAP/local accounting standards and legal requirements).
- Ability to manage multi-cultural teams and engage with a wide array of cross-functional and external stakeholders.
- Fluency in English Spanish and Portuguese.
- Located in São Paulo Brazil.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Experience managing a multi-cultural team.
- Excellent oral & written communication skills for driving discussions with internal and external stakeholders.
- Analytical mindset and a proactive attitude towards problem-solving.
- Ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple priorities.
- Strong Excel skills and ability to work with large datasets.
- Familiarity with SAP Finance Data Lake (FDL) and HFM or other financial reporting tools is a plus.
