The Grades K-7 Mathematics Specialist/Instructional Coach provides instructional leadership teacher professional development and instructional coaching. They report to the Chief Academic Officer and are a resource to Principals to ensure a cohesive rigorous academic program that engages all students.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support to all classroom teachers in implementing standards-based mathematics instructional and assessment practices through consultation coaching and the maintenance of active professional learning communities
- Work in collaboration with the district literacy coach
- Support student academic transition between grade levels and schools
- Assist Principals to initiate practices based on identified needs of students and teachers
- Work with Principals and teachers to develop and implement appropriate professional development opportunities
- Work with Principals and teachers to implement recommendations resulting from educational program evaluations
- Assists with setting measurable improvement goals for increased student achievement based on assessment data and observation.
- Serve as a member of the tiered academic team(s) building leadership team(s) and district data teams
- Attend trainings within and outside of the district as relevant to job duties and district/building initiatives/implementations
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Masters Degree required
- Massachusetts Mathematics Certification Elementary and Middle School
- Working knowledge of MA Common Core Curriculum Frameworks in Math
- Working knowledge of MCAS assessment and test score analysis practices
- Demonstrated experience developing standards-based curriculum and in implementing standards-based instructional practices
- Demonstrated experience in developing and sustaining Professional Learning Communities
- Experience in using data to inform instructional practice
- Proficient in the use of technology to support data analysis and instruction

Work Schedule:
Contracted Teacher Work Schedule - 184 days
Five additional work days required (to be paid at a per diem rate)
Salary per Teachers contract
