About the Role
The Assistant Hatchery Manager supports the daily operations of the hatchery overseeing chick processing equipment maintenance staff development and animal welfare. This role ensures efficient safe and high-quality hatchery operations.
Key Responsibilities

Manage chick processing flow from hatchers automation vaccination and counting to delivery.

Oversee egg sets incubation chick processing and delivery operations.
-
Maintain parts and supply inventories manage order entry.
-
Mentor staff and provide cross-training in hatchery operations.
-
Assist with all areas of hatchery operations as needed.
-
Ensure proper maintenance and safe operation of all hatchery equipment.
-
Maintain animal welfare standards and train employees accordingly.
-
Oversee daily sanitation and general housekeeping of the hatchery.
-
Manage hatchery operations to reduce stress on chicks and ensure quality.
-
Conduct hatchery tours for clients senior management and new hires.
-
Support hatchery projects and other tasks assigned by management.
-
Work with safety and maintenance teams to maintain compliance with safety policies.
-
Stay updated on industry trends and equipment practices.
-
Available 24/7 for urgent operational needs.
Qualifications
-
High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelors degree preferred.

Experience in hatchery operations and safety procedures.
-
Ability to lift up to 80 lbs bend reach squat walk and climb.
-
Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
-
Excellent organizational critical thinking and multitasking skills.
-
High attention to detail accuracy and commitment to quality.
-
Professionalism integrity and discretion required.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Hatchery environment with temperature variations wet areas and odors.
-
Frequent talking hearing walking stooping kneeling and crouching.
-
Ability to work in extreme hot and cold conditions.
