About the role

This role provides field and functional support across multiple projects working alongside Project Managers Project Engineers and Health & Safety Advisors to ensure environmental compliance and best-practice implementation of CMCs Environmental Management System.

Initially you will be based on a project in Townsville but we need you to be willing and able to work away from home on other projects in regional Queensland and northern NSW.

The role supports both operational delivery and pre-contracts planning by providing technical input to environmental documentation tenders and project plans.

You will be contributing to the preparation of Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) erosion and sediment control plans and other statutory documentation while assisting the Environmental Manager with data analysis reporting and continual improvement initiatives.

By promoting proactive environmental management you will help safeguard CMCs reputation ensure legislative compliance and embed a culture of environmental responsibility across all project teams.

About You

To thrive in this challenging role you will need the following qualifications experience & skills

Qualifications


  • Bachelor degree in Environmental Science Environmental Engineering or equivalent discipline;
  • Current Construction White Card;
  • ICAM (Basic) or equivalent incident-investigation or root cause analysis training (desirable);
  • Certified Practicing Erosion and Sediment Control certification (highly regarded) or associated training modules (desirable).


Experience

  • Minimum 1-3 years experience in an on-site environmental advisory or coordination role within civil construction infrastructure heavy industry or mining;
  • Demonstrated experience preparing and implementing EMPs risk registers and environmental procedures;
  • Strong understanding of QLD and NSW environmental legislation regulatory frameworks and approval processes;
  • Proven ability to support multiple projects balance competing priorities and maintain compliance standards;
  • Experience liaising with regulatory bodies and clients on environmental issues and performance reporting.

Skills

  • Sound knowledge of environmental management systems and auditing processes (ISO 14001);
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including report writing and data analysis;
  • Ability to identify practical environmental solutions and influence positive behaviours;
  • Highly organised self-motivated and capable of working autonomously across multiple sites;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and environmental data management systems;
  • Knowledge of industry-specific safety standards and regulations in Queensland and New South Wales including TMR and TfNSW;
  • Capability to adapt to and introduce new technologies and methodologies in environmental management.
