RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal Quebec the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).
Position summary
Under the general supervision of the Research Grants Offices Manager the incumbent will assist with the monitoring of research related accounts to ensure compliance with pre-established contractual obligations. Using available information systems the incumbent will also perform data entry necessary to update accounts and files. The position requires the incumbent to act as a resource to the research community and administrative staff.
General Duties
Carefully review contracts and other documents to ensure compliance with invoicing requirements
Manually generate invoices for reimbursement payment for services rendered or at the request of the funding agency
Deals with invoicing related correspondence with internal team members and with external funding agencies
Ensures appropriate follow-ups of outstanding payments for Grants and Awards as per contractual schedules
On a monthly basis issues an aging report for accounts receivable and follows up payments accordingly
Promptly inform management about uncollectible amounts in order to prepare an action plan
Creates a receivable entry in the accounting system for all CIM invoices
May communicate with research investigators regarding their accounts
Compiles verifies analyzes interprets prepares and transmits accounting data
Responds to inquiries and takes appropriate action
Office work requiring a sound knowledge of general office routine
performs other tasks or projects related to the accounts receivable cycle
Education: DEP in Accounting or equivalent
Experience: Minimum 2 years of accounting experience.
General knowledge of accounting principles
General aptitude in mathematics
High level of accuracy
Very good knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel and Word
Sound knowledge of general office routines
Bilingual French and English (spoken and written)
High level of organizational interpersonal and communication skills
Must be client-focused and service-oriented
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail
Ability to multi task prioritize and meet deadlines
Able to exercise considerable independent judgment to resolve issues.
Status : Temporary full time 35 hours workweek(12 months).
Pay Scale: $41550.60 - $62353.20. Commensurate with education and experience.
Work Shift: From 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Mondays to Fridays
Work Site: Mostly Telework or occasionally on site at downtown Montreal (2155 Guy Street).
