RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal Quebec the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).
Position summary
Under the supervision of the Manager of the Research Grants Department the incumbent will open and set up research accounts for RI-MUHC researchers including obtaining required documentation and configuring accounts in the accounting system.
The role involves interpreting award terms to ensure compliance with sponsor billing financial reporting and overhead requirements as well as serving as the departmental point of contact for the RI-MUHC Animal Resources Division and confirming eligible accounts for animal-related expenses.
General Duties
Coordinate and manage the research account opening process including resolving related issues
Communicate with researchers sponsors and RI-MUHC staff regarding account openings
Provide training and support to researchers their teams and internal staff on using the Account Opening application
Respond to inquiries and take appropriate follow-up action
Process periodic journal entries as required
Maintain up-to-date ethics certification information in the accounting system
Serve as a resource person on internal policies and procedures related to account openings
Review contracts and related documentation to ensure compliance with sponsor requirements and communicate relevant information to appropriate stakeholders
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager.
Education: Diploma of College Studies (DEC)
Field of Study: Administration or Secretarial Studies
Other education considered an asset for this position: Accounting
Work Experience: Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar administrative role.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and French.
Client-focused service-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills.
Clear and effective information exchange strong analytical problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Proactive action-oriented and able to manage multiple deadlines and concurrent tasks.
Detail-oriented with excellent data entry and follow-up skills.
Proficient with computers including word processing spreadsheets databases and internet tools.
Professional discreet self-motivated and able to work independently or in teams.
Knowledge of general accounting principles and accounting software is an asset.
Flexible and adaptable to new situations.
Status : Temporary Full-Time (35-hour workweek).
Pay Scale: Commensurate with education & work experience. $45299.80 - $67958.80.
Work Shift: Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm.
