Job Summary

Position: Preschool Assistant

Location: Various

Reports To: Early Childhood Coordinator

An Early Childhood Assistant Teacher must be a team player enthusiastic and nurturing. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience working with preschoolers. Monday through Friday position approximately 20 hours a week. Up to 35-42 weeks a year depending on the classroom.

Qualifications:

At least 18 years old
Have a high school diploma or GED
Annually maintain current CPR and first aid certification
Maintains a positive working relationship with parents/guardians and staff
Discretion with confidential information
Ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions in accordance with board policies and administrative guidelines
Must be able to pass a criminal history and childcare background check

Responsibilities:

Provide support to one/all of the following departments; Nursery Preschool Full Day Childcare
Assist in the presentation of learning materials and instructional exercises in compliance with the curriculum for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom goals and objectives
Follow the directions of supervising teacher
Assist students individually or in small groups
Assist in the supervision of students during daily instructional activities
Assist in managing student discipline through the use of positive reinforcement strategies
Respect the confidentiality of the teacher students and parents
Maintain a working knowledge of school routines emergency procedures and school discipline policy
Perform other related duties as assigned
