The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor to begin September 1 2026. Candidates with sufficient qualifications and experience may also be considered for an Associate Teaching Professor appointment.
Carnegie Mellon University has teaching-track faculty with the titles of Assistant Teaching Professor Associate Teaching Professor and Teaching Professor. These are non-tenure-track faculty positions with provision for reappointment and promotion. These are career positions not considered as temporary but with review for reappointment and/or promotion every three or five years depending on rank.
A Ph.D. in Mathematics or a closely related discipline is required. Demonstrated excellence in classroom teaching is expected. Preference will be given to candidates with sustained demonstrated excellence in teaching as well as candidates who can guide undergraduate research projects and have the potential to contribute to educational initiatives in the Department and across the University.
