Job purpose
This function supports the quality department and AWTs overall business performance objectives through fulfillment of quality control and assurance activities primarily on all factory projects executed by the welding and machining departments. This role is primarily based at one of the Two Roads entities - Applied Welding Technology factory based in Kempton Park but may seldom require client or supplier site visits. The incumbent will be reporting to the QA Manager and will be responsible for the Welding Coordinator.
Duties and responsibilities
1. Ensuring that quality requirements as prescribed by either by customers or relevant specifications are always satisfied
2. Assurance and continuous improvement regarding compliance to customer quality requirements and those of relevant specifications and standards.
3. Effective coordination of inspection and NDT personnel and activities
4. General support with factory activities as guided by management
Qualifications
Education
Mechanical engineering diploma (NQF L6) or higher (mandatory)
Welding Inspection Level 2 or equivalent (mandatory)
Engineering B. Tech qualification advantageous
Quality control/assurance certifications advantageous
Specialised Knowledge
Good understanding and interpretation engineering drawings
Capability to use a broad range of measuring instruments
Basic understanding of metal fabrication processes
Basic understanding of NDT techniques
Good understanding of ISO 5817 standard
Understanding the application of welding procedures
Basic understanding of engineering material grades
Must be comfortable to use Microsofts core applications i.e. Word Excel Outlook and basic navigation in general
Skills and qualities
Good communication skills both written and verbal Must be meticulous with documentation Problem-solving oriented Must be willing to go an extra mile to assist other employees and meeting business commitments Experience Minimum 5 years (min B. Tech level) or 10 years (min N. Diploma level) of experience within manufacturing (metal fabrication) environment Experience with welded parts components industrial pump components valve components will be advantageous |
