POSITION SUMMARY:

The Career and Technical Education (CTE) Technology & ASB Teacher provides high-quality instruction in business computer applications digital media tools and associated leadership activities at Mount Vernon High School. This 1.0 FTE leave-replacement position (January 5 2026March 30 2026) is responsible for delivering engaging standards-aligned coursework in web design 3D graphics & gaming and ASB operations supporting students in developing practical industry-relevant addition to this the teacher will supervise students in the worksite learning class. The teacher creates an inclusive culturally responsive classroom environment that supports diverse learners promotes positive student engagement and fosters career readiness. The role includes implementing effective instructional strategies managing a productive learning environment coordinating worksite learning experiences and ensuring compliance with ASB laws and procedures. Collaboration with staff families and the school community is essential to supporting student success and contributing to a positive school culture.

Instruction & Classroom Management

  • Plan prepare and deliver engaging instruction in business computer applications digital media and related CTE content areas.
  • Integrate software such as Canva Photoshop Illustrator Blender HTML/CSS and other industry-aligned tools into daily instruction.
  • Apply effective classroom management strategies to maintain a safe respectful and productive learning environment.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners including multilingual students nontraditional learners and students with varying skill levels.
  • Assess and monitor student progress using a variety of formative and summative assessment methods.

CTE Program Duties

  • Align instruction with state CTE standards and program requirements.
  • Support students in developing technical skills leadership abilities and workplace readiness.
  • Coordinate and oversee worksite learning experiences ensuring compliance with Worksite Learning guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records reports and required CTE documentation.

ASB & Leadership Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction related to ASB operations leadership and school culture.
  • Ensure student activities and instructional content follow ASB laws financial procedures and district expectations.
  • Support students in planning organizing and managing school events or ASB-related projects.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Build positive relationships with students families colleagues and community partners.
  • Communicate regularly with students and families regarding progress expectations and support needs.
  • Collaborate with CTE staff counselors administrators and support personnel to promote student success.

Professional Expectations

  • Participate in required training staff meetings and professional development activities.
  • Maintain current Washington State CTE certification and all required credentials.
  • Follow district policies safety protocols and legal requirements including maintaining current First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Demonstrate cultural responsiveness professionalism and ethical conduct at all times.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must hold a valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with CTE certification and endorsement in Business Computer Applications and Worksite Learning Coordinator or ability to attain one
  • Evidence of First Aid/ CPR Certification
  • Ability to interact positively with students of diverse cultures and learning styles and to help all students
  • Training in instructional theory and classroom management as it applies to teaching high school students
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and adults

PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience teaching in secondary schools
  • Experience working with nontraditional learners and various ethnic and socioeconomic groups
  • Experience working Canva Photoshop Illustrator Blender HTML & CSS and understanding of ASB law
  • Bilingual in Spanish Russian Ukrainian Mixteco

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee will frequently sit stand and walk bend neck and back squat kneel and use hands for fine manipulation and repetitive grasping and pushing/pulling. The employee will occasionally be required to climb stairs/ladder lift and reach overhead and lift/carry. The employee must constantly lift/carry up to 5 lbs must frequently lift/carry up to 10 lbs and occasionally lift/carry a maximum of 20 lbs. The employee is occasionally required to push/pull a maximum force of 100 lbs.

While performing the duties of this job the employee regularly works in indoor conditions and intermittently works near video displays. Selection for interview is based on evaluation of complete application file. Employment offer is based on employee evaluations discipline history and attendance records training and experience references and interview results. Hourly rate placement contingent upon verification of related experience.

Employment contingent upon completion and verification of form information and background check with fee to be paid by applicant.
Pay for contracted classified employees is distributed once/month on the last business day of the month. Pay for employees who work less than full year is spread through August. Questions concerning pay processes may be directed to the Personnel Office.

Eligibility for SEBB medical dental vision life insurance AD&D and LTD if anticipated to reach 630 hours in the school year. Eligibility for retirement based on 3.50 hrs/day or more for 5 or more consecutive months. Optional tax-sheltered annuities: Omni 403(b) and Deferred Compensation Plan. Personal leave vacation leave (260-day employees only) and sick leave prorated based on FTE.
