Emergency Department Nursing Professional Development Generalist
Location: Sentara Obici Hospital Suffolk VA (Emergency Department)
Job Summary:
The Emergency Department Nursing Professional Development Generalist is responsible for planning coordinating and delivering education for nursing staff within the Sentara Obici Emergency Department. This role supports orientation practice transitions and ongoing professional development to ensure nurses gain the knowledge and skills needed to provide safe high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement education and training programs for Emergency Department nursing staff at Sentara Obici.
Serve as a learning facilitator during orientation and throughout the transition to practice.
Validate competencies and core skills to support nurses progressing from novice to competent practitioners.
Support continuing education staff development and initiatives that improve patient safety quality and outcomes.
Participate in system and hospital performance improvement projects and evidence-based practice initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
Active RN license in the state(s) of practice.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
Advanced or specialty life support certifications required upon hire including:
ACLS & PALS for Emergency Department
Other specialty certifications as needed per department standards
