Position Summary

Our client is looking for a Utility Consulting Director to drive the success of management and advisory consulting engagements. This leadership role requires deep expertise in at least one of the following service areas:

  • Transmission Planning
  • Grid Modernization & Distribution Planning
  • Resource Planning & Market Assessment
  • Financial Analysis & Rates
  • Utility Investment Planning
  • Renewable Energy
  • Energy Asset Advisory
  • Zero Emissions Transportation

The Director will guide a team of consultants and analysts overseeing all aspects of project execution including quality schedule budgeting contracting proposal development and client engagement. They will foster team growth while ensuring delivery excellence and long-term client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage consulting projects from pursuit and proposal through execution and delivery.

Facilitate client workshops with senior leadership to uncover needs and craft strategic plans.

  • Serve as a strategic advisor identifying client issues and proposing innovative solutions.
  • Maintain seamless communication across project stakeholders ensuring transparency and alignment.
  • Prepare and present progress reports detailing schedule budget and performance metrics.
  • Build and lead multidisciplinary teams; coordinate tasks to ensure efficiency and quality.
  • Mentor and provide feedback to team members; contribute to internal training and development programs.
  • Manage relationships with third-party vendors including contracting and performance oversight.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for upselling and cross-selling.
  • Oversee accurate and timely processing of invoicing for contracts and subcontracts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in engineering business or a related field (MBA preferred).
  • Minimum of 13 years of relevant consulting experience preferably in the utilities or energy sector.
  • Proven ability to manage complex consulting engagements and develop strategic solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work with large datasets.
  • Skilled at identifying client needs and delivering actionable persuasive recommendations.
  • Excellent facilitation collaboration and interpersonal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in financial and business acumen relevant to utility operations and investment planning.

Compensation

  • Salary Range: $220000 - $410000 annually
  • Compensation is commensurate with experience qualifications and geographic location.
  • Eligible for year-end discretionary bonus program.
