About the Role

The Lead Youth Care Services provides leadership and strategic direction while overseeing the Youth in Transition Youth Outreach and Supported Services to Children programs. This role ensures program staff are equipped to support participants effectively and that all contractual and program obligations are met. Time in this position is equally divided between leadership responsibilities and direct client service. The Lead Youth Care Services reports to the Manager of Family Youth and Children Services (FYCS).

What Youll Do

Leadership & Workforce Development

  • Provides vision and leadership to staff fostering a cohesive mission-aligned team.
  • Oversee recruitment onboarding coaching supervision and performance management in partnership with Program Manager and People & Culture.
  • Promotes strong communication practices and supports effective team coordination.
  • Manage staff scheduling hours allocation and time-tracking approvals.

Program & Operational Management

  • Co-develop program standards logic models monitoring frameworks and evaluation tools with the Program Manager.
  • Contributes to annual budget planning and monitors program expenditures throughout the year.
  • Ensure programs meet all SCCSS policies accreditation requirements contractual obligations and quality standards.
  • Maintains accurate program and client documentation including reporting to MCFD.

Client Support & Service Delivery

  • Provide direct client services and support the development or delegation of individualized service plans and goal-setting.
  • Works to reduce barriers and support client access through awareness of community trends and demographic needs.

Community & Stakeholder Relations

  • Establishes and maintains productive partnerships with community agencies including MCFD VCH SD #46 Indigenous partners Early Years Council and RCMP.
  • Promotes collaboration and effective service integration across community systems.

Health Safety & Compliance

  • Ensures a safe work environment by following WorkSafeBC and organizational safety procedures.
  • Supports operational needs by performing other related duties as require

What You Bring

  • Two-year post-secondary diploma or degree in a relevant field plus a minimum of two years of relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of local provincial and federal legislation related to program and client services.
  • Demonstrated ability to work from both a harm reduction and person-centered service model.
  • Cultural competency and experience working respectfully and non-judgmentally with individuals from diverse cultural ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of the impacts of colonization including Residential Schools on Indigenous peoples.
  • Experience working in the non-profit sector and collaborating effectively with community partners and volunteers.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience using electronic client records systems.
  • Excellent communication organizational and time-management skills including the ability to prioritize and delegate tasks.
  • Adaptable creative and comfortable working in changing or ambiguous environments with a willingness to learn and adopt new technologies.

  • Criminal Record Check (CRC) clearance is for working with vulnerable populations.
  • Emergency Child Care First Aid certification is .
  • Valid drivers license and reliable vehicle for meeting clients and traveling across the Coast.
  • Must be able to lift and move general office supplies and related equipment as needed.
  • Work takes place in multiple environments including client residences community settings office locations with occasional opportunities for remote work.
