Government Affairs Manager
Description -
HP Inc. is seeking to recruit a Government Affairs Manager to drive policy issues affecting HP and the technology industry. The position will be responsible for developing strategies and influencing policies that present opportunities or risks for the company particularly as it relates to supply chain and operations for the region.
This position is a member of the Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) team of the Government Affairs and Public Policy (GA&PP) organization.
The key responsibilities include:
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to develop and implement public policy initiatives in support of HPs operations and strategic planning.
- Build new and strengthen existing HP relationships with key government and industry stakeholders in Vietnam and across the region.
- Influence government policies related to supply chain resilience and technology ecosystem development.
- Work closely with the broader GA&PP team to manage coordinate and support Supply Chain transformation resiliency and operations in Southeast Asia as well as globally.
- Manage planning engagement execution and monitoring of memoranda of understanding (MOUs) including tracking related obligations.
- Conduct special projects of strategic importance to the company and executive leadership.
- Leverage external networks including government officials and trade associations to secure HP objectives and create allies for advocacy strategies.
- Ensure all activities are conducted according to HPs Standards of Business Conduct.
Successful candidate will be an independent self-starter with excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across a matrixed organization and with senior executives. We are looking for a great advocate both internally and externally and an ambitious leader and a collaborative team player in a small and agile regional government affairs and public policy team.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree or equivalent with 8 years of experience or Masters degree with 4-6 years of experience in government relations public policy or a related field.
- Knowledge of the political landscape and government stakeholders in Vietnam.
- Experience with global supply chain issues and economic incentives.
- Proven track record in navigating regulatory and compliance requirements in the tech electronic and manufacturing sectors.
- Strong project management skills and outstanding organizational abilities including the capacity to collaborate with regional functions and manage several different workstreams simultaneously.
- Experience developing and implementing government relations strategies for companies trade associations or relevant government service.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced and distributed business environment providing advice and counsel to senior management and presenting to senior level boards and committees.
- Exceptional written and oral communications skills and a proven track record of producing high quality content and materials.
- Intellectual curiosity flexibility to learn and manage new issues.
- Fluency in English and Vietnamese required. Southeast Asian languages an asset.
- Some travel may be required.
