Job DescriptionThe Senior Director Technology Portfolio Planning & Operations is a critical enabler and advisor to enterprise and Digital & Technology (DAT) leadership. This role leads the function responsible for ensuring technology investments are planned prioritized and managed to maximize strategic impact. Acting as the steward of the supply side of technology planning this leader will build and mature capabilities in portfolio planning analytics and operations driving discipline in capacity planning tradeoff analysis scenario modeling and performance measurement. You will partner closely with Enterprise Planning (the demand side) as well as Product Engineering Experience Design Finance/Controllership and other stakeholders to ensure transparent decision-making strong financial stewardship and effective alignment of technology resources to the companys most important strategic priorities.
This role is hybrid which means you will be required to work some days on-site at our Best Buy Corporate Campus in Richfield Minnesota and some days virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location. What youll do- Lead the development of continuous portfolio planning capabilities aligning technology investments with enterprise strategy business priorities and financial guardrails.
- Own the supply-side view of the technology portfolio including capacity planning scenario modeling tradeoff analysis and investment pacing to maximize time-to-value.
- Partner with Finance and Controllership to connect portfolio planning to financial rhythms ensuring transparency adherence to controls and alignment of spend and labor composition.
- Establish portfolio operations processes and forums to monitor execution track performance against outcomes and enable proactive adjustments across the investment mix.
- Collaborate closely with Enterprise Planning to integrate demand and supply perspectives improve demand quality and drive shared accountability for prioritization and tradeoff decisions.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders by providing data-driven insights and recommendations to inform investment mix resourcing decisions and long-term planning.
Basic qualifications- Bachelors degree in Business Technology Engineering or a related field or equivalent/relevant experience.
- 10 years of progressive leadership experience in technology portfolio planning product/program management finance or related functions.
- 3 years of experience influencing senior-level decision-making in a large enterprise environment.
Preferred qualifications- Advanced degree preferred.
- Direct people leadership experience.
- Experience partnering with finance/controllership in a large enterprise environment.
