POSITION SUMMARY

Performs as anAutomotiveTechnology Instructor in a high school classroom and shop setting presenting instruction inautomotivetechnology repair functions. Promotes a positive atmosphere within the classroom and shop setting conducive to optimal training learning and motivation. The primary responsibility of every teacher is to develop implement and maintain a competency-aligned educational program that will teach each student the technical skills and knowledge of their program area as well as the 21st Century Workplace Readiness Skills for the Commonwealth of Virginia.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Instructs students on care of automobile tools their purpose and proper use.
  • Instructs students on shop safety.
  • Instructs students to perform major and minorautomotivetechnology repair.
  • Establishes and maintains a working relationship withautoindustry to ensure training relevant.
  • Secures instructional aids and materials as available.
  • Demonstrates long-range planning and knowledge of the student area.
  • Completes daily written lesson plans which fulfill learning objectives consistent with LCS curricula and SOLs.
  • Plans for individual student differences.
  • Works to achieve division/school/department objectives.
  • Utilizes a variety of teaching methods.
  • Communicates objective(s) and purpose(s) of lesson.
  • Utilizes various forms of technology to assist in the delivery of instruction.
  • Provides opportunities for student responses and gives appropriate feedback to students.
  • Utilizes effective motivational strategies.
  • Paces instruction to provide opportunities for student success.
  • Delivers curriculum and instruction in accordance with school division guidelines.
  • Sets communicates and maintains high standards for responsible student behavior.
  • Plans for and makes effective use of time materials and resources.
  • Organizes students for effective instruction.
  • Demonstrates respect consideration and courtesy.
  • Cooperates with other teachers to exchange ideas.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Must possess or be eligible for a Virginia teaching license
  • Must be ASE certified or eligible to become ASE certified.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Basic knowledge of different computer-based instructional software
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite or Google Productivity Suite (Docs Slides Sheets)
