Position Overview

We are seeking an exceptional VP Creative Director Copy (VP CD Copy) to lead the copy and storytelling vision for BGBs new business pitch and growth initiatives. This senior creative leader will be dedicated to crafting breakthrough narratives developing persuasive pitch stories and driving creative excellence across all new business opportunities.

The ideal candidate is a master storyteller with deep healthcare expertise a strong command of brand strategy and a passion for transforming complex scientific topics into compelling human-centered narratives. This role will lead pitch copy direction elevate the agencys narrative craft and collaborate closely with creative strategy account and business development leaders to win new business and fuel agency growth.

Specific Responsibilities

Narrative Leadership for New Business

  • Lead the creation of persuasive high-impact pitch narratives that differentiate BGB and resonate with prospective clients.
  • Develop story arcs that weave together strategic insight science and creative vision into clear inspiring presentations.

Messaging Strategy & Creative Storytelling

  • Partner closely with Strategy Art and Account teams to craft integrated pitch narratives that align with brand category and market needs.
  • Translate complex scientific and medical content into emotionally resonant accessible and compelling copy.

Pitch & Presentation Excellence

  • Serve as a primary presenter and narrative lead during new business pitches confidently guiding clients through strategic rationale and creative thinking.
  • Ensure pitch messaging is concise persuasive and tailored to each prospects unique challenges and opportunities.

Creative & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with art directors designers strategists and account leads to ensure pitch work is cohesive integrated and beautifully crafted.
  • Drive alignment across teams to streamline pitch development timelines and enhance creative outputs.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Mentor and inspire copywriters and pitch-supporting creative team members fostering a culture of growth collaboration and storytelling excellence.
  • Elevate written craft across the organization by providing thoughtful direction feedback and coaching.

Innovation in Voice Content and Storytelling Formats

  • Apply emerging trends digital storytelling techniques and modern content formats to pitch materials to push the agencys creative edge.
  • Identify opportunities to evolve and modernize how BGB tells brand and agency stories.

Quality Control & Editorial Excellence

  • Uphold the highest standards of copy quality ensuring tone voice and messaging are sharp strategic and aligned to brand and regulatory frameworks.
  • Oversee all copy for new business work ensuring consistency and excellence across decks scripts capabilities materials and presentations.

Growth Partnership

  • Work side by side with Business Development leadership to support pipeline planning pitch strategy and broader growth initiatives.
  • Contribute creative perspectives that support expansion opportunities with current clients.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience

  • 15 years in copywriting and creative leadership ideally within healthcare pharmaceutical advertising or a related agency environment.
  • Significant experience developing pitch narratives or leading new business storytelling.

Portfolio

  • A standout portfolio demonstrating exceptional narrative development brand storytelling and persuasive writing across integrated campaigns and/or pitch work.

Expertise

  • Mastery in transforming scientific/medical content into engaging emotionally resonant narratives.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance in healthcare promotional work.

Leadership

  • Proven experience mentoring and guiding creative teams under tight timelines and high-pressure pitch environments.
  • Ability to lead multiple high-priority initiatives simultaneously.

Communication

  • Exceptional verbal written and presentation skills particularly in the context of high-stakes pitches.

Education

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in English Journalism Communications or a related field preferred.

Salary Range:$175000 - $225000 base salary bonus eligibility

The salary range provided represents what a potential hire may expect to earn in this role at BGB. Actual salary decisions will be influenced by several factors that we use to determine overall fit including experience (both direct and indirect) education training demonstrated qualifications and organizational need. Salary is only one component of the total rewards package offered at BGB Group.
