Job Summary

Description

The Language Coordinator2 oversees and facilitates translation projects for one or more assigned languages ensuring efficiency quality and cost-effectiveness in delivering linguistic products worldwide. This role focuses on coordinating tasks using translation project management tools guiding internal and external resources and keeping projects on track. The ideal candidate is a skilled project manager with strong organizational linguistic and communication abilities capable of providing training and feedback across cultures and committed to delivering excellent service to stakeholders.



Responsibilities

Quality Evaluation

  • Assess the quality of translation interpretation and production work by internal and external resources including linguistic accuracy completeness and on-time delivery.

  • Ensure final project files are delivered to the requesting party.

Project Coordination

  • Manage projects using standard processes to ensure timely completion including communication expectations and payment with external translation providers.

  • Balance translation interpretation and production workloads for assigned language(s) through efficient project coordination including file preparation task assignment and project tracking.

  • Act as a backup Language Supervisor when needed.

  • Coordinate both sensitive high-profile projects and non-sensitive low-profile projects.

External Engagement

  • Onboard train and maintain strong relationships with external translation providers.

Other Duties

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Language Supervisor.



Qualifications
  • Must hold a current / valid Temple recommend and /or be worthy to possess one.

  • Bachelors degree in linguistics translation or a related field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience typically including at least six years of professional translation expertise in the assigned language. Native speakers preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of project management or related experience.
  • Mastery of spoken and written English and at least one other language with strong command of vocabulary grammar pronunciation and syntax.
  • Knowledge of countries culture history current events customs and values related to the languages being translated.
  • Proven skills in project management time management interpersonal communication coaching problem-solving and the ability to perform under pressure.
  • Ability to work effectively with internal and external resources to ensure projects are completed on time and meet client specifications
  • Proficiency with translation and business management tools including web interfaces data entry and file handling. Ability to provide basic technical support for users of these systems.
  • Strong computer skills including advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and operating systems.
  • Knowledge of Church doctrine policies and ecclesiastical organization.
  • Foundational knowledge of word processing graphic production and language recording best practices; familiarity with computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools.
