Facilities Mechanical Plant Engineer

Boeings Enterprise Services organization is currently looking for a Facilities Mechanical Engineer to join our Global Real Estate & Facilities (GREF) team located in North Charleston South Carolina. Our team is hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Experienced and Senior Engineer.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in North Charleston SC.

This role primarily supports the Boeing South Carolina sites facilities operations equipment maintenance reliability engineering and future site development.

In this role you will support enhancements to site infrastructure with emphasis on Building Mechanical Systems including HVAC Chilled Water Cooling Tower Humidification/Dehumidification Hot Water and Steam Boilers Compressed Air Distributed Vacuum Domestic Water Sanitary and Fire Water systems. You will have the opportunity to work with an exceptional facilities operation contribute to the enterprise GREF Engineering team and collaborate with colleagues from various technical backgrounds.

This position installs analyzes diagnoses and resolves building mechanical systems and devices. Work involves defining system requirements maintaining documentation on changes and enhancements and developing standard and ad hoc reports to monitor system performance. Work may involve monitoring testing and adjusting pneumatic controls; and providing building automation user and software training to trades and maintenance employees.

Boeing South Carolina fabricates the 787 Dreamliner airplane and is home of the DreamLifter.

Position Responsibilities:

• Analyzes building environmental control problems such as temperature humidity static pressure air flow noise and air quality and recommends solutions for implementation.

• Troubleshoots mechanical system and equipment failures; determines root cause; and develops work-arounds and corrective actions.

• Develops plans for system and equipment improvements.

• Specifies system and equipment preventative maintenance.

• Integrates with internal and business customers.

• Defines building and infrastructure mechanical system requirements.

• Support building and infrastructure construction and modification projects.

• Supports new asset commissioning.

• Analyzes current mechanical system conditions and future requirements to recommend infrastructure capital improvements. Works with both internal and external stakeholders to identify and assess alternatives and impacts.

• Ensures compliance with safety producibility maintainability reliability ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements.

• Translates customer requirements into design options with documents and estimates.

• Assists in the creation of contract scopes.

• May be required to perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):

• Bachelor Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering computer science mathematics physics or chemistry

• 5 years of experience with building mechanical systems.

• 3 years of experience working in a facilities engineering role in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• Bachelors Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering

• Level 4: 9 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

• Level 3: 5 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

• 9 years of experience maintaining facilities equipment

• 5 years of experience supporting or installing HVAC ventilation and/or chilled water building systems in industrial facilities.

• 5 years of experience with equipment reliability or machine troubleshooting

• 5 years of experience supporting or installing distributed industrial compressed air systems.

• 5 years of experience supporting or installing distributed industrial vacuum systems.

• 5 years of experience supporting building environmental controls

• 5 years of experience supporting or installing domestic water fire water and sanitary sewer systems.

• Experience authoring Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID).

• Proficiency with Bluebeam AutoCAD and Revit software.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications as well as market and business considerations.
