Relief Direct Care Worker - Family After School Program

Great opportunity to join our Family After School Program as a Relief Direct Care Worker!

Riversides Family After-School Program offers a structured therapeutic environment for children ages 6-12 in the Cambridge and Somerville areas who have faced challenges including neglect homelessness and trauma. With a focus on clinically intensive trauma-informed services the program helps children develop coping skills self-expression and peer relationships while supporting family involvement through regular events and collaboration.

As a Direct Care Relief team member youll work collaboratively with a dedicated group of professionalsincluding the Program Director Clinical Specialist Child and Family Counselor and Young Adult Peer Mentorto deliver engaging programming that supports childrens emotional and social development.

In this vital role you will:

• Partner with the program team to maintain a positive therapeutic environment addressing the emotional developmental and physical needs of each child
• Plan organize and lead engaging activities that promote learning structure and safety
• Supervise and interact positively with children throughout the program day
• Communicate with team members to ensure coordination of care and consistency across services
• Provide safe and reliable transportation for children to and from the program and on field trips

Schedule: Relief hours available Monday through Friday between 2 p.m. - 6 p.m.

Pay Rate:$20.60/hourly

Required Skills

• Prior experience or a comfort level supervising and/or working with children with special needs is preferred
• Valid drivers license
• Excellent communication interpersonal and organizational skills
• Must be dependable responsible and able to work both independently and as part of a team

Required Experience

• High school degree required Bachelors degree recommended
• At least one year working with children in recreational school or community settings
