SALARY:
$195500 to $244400 per year. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors including but not limited to skill knowledge experience education and credentials.

Primary Purpose
The Assistant Dean of Clinical Education for Resources & Curriculum is a principal administrator and leader of the RVUCOM academic program for the clinical years responsible for developing managing and improving the clinical curriculum assessments and clinical rotation network. The Assistant Dean supports the Sr. Associate Dean in implementing the RVUCOM clinical curriculum and in meeting COCA accreditation standards. This position collaborates with other RVU programs and departments to align the curriculum across all years. This position is also responsible for the supervision and professional development of the employees within his/her reporting structure. The Assistant Dean assists and the Associate Dean in facilitating and implementing clinical preceptor faculty development and recognition for the RVUCOM region. The Assistant Dean of Clinical Education will assist the Sr. Associate Dean of Clinical Education in creating managing and constantly improving student clerkship rotations. Responsibilities will include planning and implementing programs that help ensure excellent outcomes in the third- and fourth-year clinical education program. Direct reports include: RVUCOM Regional Directors RVUCOM Clerkship Directors.
Essential Job Functions
- Provide strategic leadership and guidance in the planning development and implementation of the RVUCOM clinical curriculum in close collaboration with the Senior Associate Dean Clinical Education Data & Curriculum Manager relevant committees and curriculum coordinators.
- Provide team leadership through regular feedback assessment and performance evaluations. Cultivate and sustain collaborative relationships with community physicians and healthcare leaders across Colorado Utah and neighboring regions to expand and enhance clinical training opportunities for students.
- Participate in clerkship rotation site visits and inspections to ensure quality student experiences and adjunct faculty compliance to the Clinical Education Manual. Assist in recruiting developing advancing and retaining preceptors faculty and staff.
- Foster a culture of respect equity and inclusion by recruiting hiring and retaining talent while collaborating with internal departments partner institutions and key stakeholders to advance the mission of RVU and RVUCOM in alignment with the Universitys core values.
- Collaborate on the development of policies and procedures for RVUCOM clinical education and implement strategies to ensure adherence to established budgets policies and protocols.
- Ensure the delivery ongoing evaluation and continuous improvement of academic standards in alignment with accreditation requirements set by the American Osteopathic Association Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (AOA COCA).
- Work with faculty and administration to implement the integration of clinical knowledge and skills biomedical sciences and osteopathic principles and practices throughout the pre-doctoral education to advance RVUCOM students professionalism knowledge skills and competencies to the level required for osteopathic graduate medical education.
- Help develop and coordinate programs and resources to assist and promote faculty development and Oversee evaluations of adjunct clinical faculty.
- Assure the advancement and integration of high standards for ethical and professional behavior in all aspects for RVUCOM and personnel.
- Serve as an active participant on committees or task forces or other duties as assigned by the Dean.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Ability to travel off-campus to clinical rotation sites and manage responsibilities on-site and remotely.
- Strong time management organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Effective negotiation and communication abilities including proficiency in video conferencing public speaking and teaching.
- Comprehensive knowledge of university and college policies the Clinical Education Manual and student services.
- Expertise in undergraduate medical education curriculum development core competencies Entrustable Professional Activities and educational milestones.
- Demonstrated leadership and professional involvement in medical organizations.
- Active engagement in scholarly activity research and service to the public or profession.
- Established reputation within the Utah medical community.
- Commitment to equity diversity and inclusion in academic and professional environments.
Minimum Qualifications
- D.O. or M.D. Degree from a COCA or LCME accredited medical school.
- AOA or ABMS board certifications at some point in their career.
- Unrestricted license at some time in their career free from disciplinary actions or sanctions while licensed.
- Two (2) years minimum of experience as faculty in a medical school or graduate medical education program.
- One (1) - three (3) years of experience in medical education including curriculum delivery and program development.
- Three (3) years of academic leadership in roles such as department chair assistant / associate dean Director of Medical Education Designated Institutional Official or program director.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active involvement and leadership in professional medical organizations.
- Demonstrated scholarly contributions through research publications and service to the public or profession.
