OverviewThis role leads business development efforts for Higher Education and DSA projects across Southern California focused on building relationships securing new work and advancing strategic mission-aligned growth. The position partners closely with leadership and internal teams to translate vision into action and deliver high-impact education projects.Must Haves- Proven business development leadership in construction with direct experience in Higher Education and DSA projects
- Strong understanding of General Contracting and Construction Management delivery public-sector processes and the Southern California higher education market
- Demonstrated success securing new work building long-term institutional relationships and advancing pursuits from opportunity through award
- Strategic mission-driven mindset with the ability to evaluate opportunities based on risk value funding and organizational fit
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with confidence engaging senior-level clients and internal partners
- Collaborative cross-functional approach with willingness to travel throughout Southern California
Nice to Haves- Established relationships within California higher education systems or public agencies
- Experience with RFQs RFPs alternative delivery methods and campus capital planning or bond-funded projects
- Ability to interpret construction documents and support design-build CM at Risk or lease-leaseback pursuits
- Experience representing an organization at industry events or mentoring business development team members
Responsibilities- Identify pursue and secure new business opportunities within the Higher Education sector across Southern California
- Build maintain and expand trusted relationships with campus leaders facilities teams consultants and industry partners
- Develop and manage a healthy pipeline of DSA and higher education projects aligned with organizational goals
- Lead business development strategies that support sustainable growth and long-term market presence
- Translate high-level vision and strategy into actionable highlighting projects and pursuits
- Collaborate closely with internal teams to develop compelling pursuit strategies proposals and interview presentations
- Evaluate potential opportunities by assessing scope delivery method risk profile funding source and strategic value
- Track market trends funding landscapes and emerging opportunities within the higher education space
- Increase organizational visibility through active participation in industry events associations and networking forums
- Support leadership in advancing mission-aligned initiatives that create lasting impact within the communities served
