We are looking for a commercial/real estate legal assistant with 3 years of experience to join a midsized full-service firm in Chicago.Responsibilities:- Provide administrative and executive support for 2-4 attorneys in our corporate and real estate transactional practices.
- Prepare edit and format legal documents including but not limited to contracts purchase and sale agreements leases affidavits auditors letters waivers promissory notes opinion letters bills of sale deeds affidavits of title and property legal descriptions.
- Assist attorneys with the various tasks and procedures associated with real estate and corporate closings including opening new client matters assembling closing binders and closing files in preparation to send to offsite storage.
- Create organize and maintain physical and electronic files for attorneys.
- Assist with opening new business matters and prepare basic correspondence engagement letters and conflict letters in both physical and electronic forms.
- Analyze incoming emails and correspondence for appropriate action and reply as directed if pertaining to scheduling billing or other administrative matters.
- Assist attorneys with various billing matters including sending client invoices and monthly statements checking outstanding balances providing clients with copies of outstanding invoices and statements as requested and preparing monthly client and firm-related expenses for payment and/or reimbursement.
- Proactively manage appointments schedule meetings and conference/video calls and maintain client contact lists and attorney calendars in Outlook.
- Assist with tracking attorneys CLE credits on an as needed basis.
